Princess Charlene of Monaco publicly supported her husband, Prince Albert, this afternoon as the couple attended a memorial service for his father, Prince Rainier III.
Tomorrow marks the eighteenth anniversary of Rainier’s death. The late King died of a heart attack in April 2005.
Before his untimely death at the age of 82, the father of three had been ruler of Monaco for nearly 56 years.
This afternoon, a commemoration of Rainier’s life was held at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Monaco-Ville – where Rainier and his wife, former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, are buried.
When they arrive at mass, Charlene and Albert – who were recently rumored to have separated after the princess was photographed without her wedding ring – briefly comb her hands by climbing the stairs to the cathedral.

For the somber occasion, Charlene wore a simple gray trench coat — which she wore over a black and white checkered blouse.
The mom-of-two wore a matching gray pleated skirt with an oversized black leather belt.
To finish off her chic ensemble, Charlene donned a pair of black leather heels and sheer stockings.
She styled her short blonde hair in a side part and wore minimal jewelry for the memorial — opting for diamond earrings.
Meanwhile, her husband Albert looked suitably smart in a black suit and tie while paying respects to his late father.
The ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of Monaco, Dominique Marie David – who has held the position since March 2020.
Before heading into the cathedral, Albert and Charlene were photographed exchanging pleasantries with the Archbishop and other members of the church before heading inside.
Then, Charlene – who was by her husband’s side throughout the occasion – took the time to thank the Archbishop for organizing the memorial.

During her appearance in Milan last month, Charlene, 44,’s ring finger was noticeably empty, prompting speculation that the Monaco royals may be planning a split.
However, later that day, the couple made a joint appearance at the Monte Carlo Woman of the Year Awards, where Charlene proudly showed up wearing her wedding ring – pouring cold water on the split rumors.
Rumors spread about the couple’s marriage for the first time after Charlene was absent from Monaco for most of 2021 while receiving medical treatment in her native South Africa, and was admitted to a Swiss clinic to be treated for exhaustion upon her return.
She’s now back in full swing with her royal duties and public appearances, but French magazine ROYAUTÉ has claimed that the prince and princess are in the process of separating.
However, the press office of the Palace said that they officially deny the malicious rumors propagated by the magazine.
A company spokesperson said: “I would like to officially deny the malicious rumors propagated by the French magazine Royot. Please disregard this completely unfounded article.
