A Florida high school psychology teacher has been fired after giving his students an assignment where they write their own obituaries before the school’s active shooting practice.

Jeffrey Kane taught at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando until this week, when his lesson apparently went too far.

He asked the students, “If they died 24 hours from now, what would they do differently than they did yesterday?”

Kane wanted to use the exercise to teach his students to be safe and to think about the important things in life.

The students were asked to write a research paper on how they perceived the training and wanted them to answer multiple questions.

A student in his first semester apparently got upset and asked to speak to a counselor and was soon expelled after being lectured to by a school official.

The teacher was then offered the opportunity to resign from his job without breaching his contract.

I said: I did nothing wrong. I said: if you do, tell me what it is. They said, “We can’t do that.” I said, “In that case, since I don’t know what I did wrong, you can go ahead and terminate me for no reason.”

Then they did on Tuesday, shocking Kane, who made several Facebook posts protesting the decision.

I’m a little confused by this. Have our schools focused more on censorship and entitlement than on preparing these “young people” for “the world we live in”? ”

He added that the lesson was for tenth through twelfth graders, and second graders up to the upper grades in the public school.

Kane also noted that he put a disclaimer at the end of the mission saying that it “in no way offends you”.
