Tiger Woods withdraws from The Masters after falling to the bottom of the leaderboard

Tiger Woods withdrew from The Masters with 29 holes left to play, raising concerns that he may have played his last competitive opportunity at the Augusta National.

The 15-time major winner made it to the weekend after making the cut with a single shot, but was battered by conditions at the start of his third round and dropped to the bottom of the leaderboard at +9.

Cameras caught him limping badly through the final moments of Saturday before play was suspended due to weather conditions, and Woods has now confirmed he will not be back on the track on Sunday.

The 47-year-old is set for a grueling fourth day of play as Masters organizers prepare to attempt to complete the third and fourth rounds, leaving Woods with 29 holes to contend with.

Fans now fear they may see his last among the azaleas in Augusta, as his potential final moments come as he limps down the seventh lane, drenched in rain and wind.

Just hours earlier, Woods had qualified for the third round — thanks in part to good friend Justin Thomas dropping a shot — marking the 23rd consecutive Masters he played in over the weekend.

But it appears that completing the full four rounds was too much for Woods’ body to handle, as organizers confirmed the news in a statement.

“Due to injury, Tiger Woods has officially withdrawn from The Masters Tournament after completing seven holes in his third round,” the text read.

In his long and successful career, Woods has won The Masters five times, first in 1997 and then more recently in 2019 when his near-miraculous recovery from a car accident ended with him slipping down the green jacket again.

Many thought he would never walk again, let alone play golf at a high level, and so it was quite a shock to see him win the championship again.

Woods still routinely struggles with stiffness and pain in his leg, and he has to carefully pick and choose which tournaments he plays in.
