A New York woman who was more than six months pregnant has claimed that a March traffic stop caused her to miscarry.
Guachaya Auranchak said she was stopped by an unmarked car while returning from her grandmother’s home on March 20 in Binghamton and sustained bumps on the hood of her car while in custody.
She alleged that the stress of the arrest caused her to miscarry just moments after she was brought to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
New York State troopers, however, refuted her version of events, saying that Ornchak refused to withdraw and hit an officer’s car while trying to flee.
They also claim that Oranchak had traces of fentanyl and methamphetamine in her body at the time, and have released body camera footage that they say proves their innocence.

Body camera footage shows an officer getting out of his car and approaching a Range Rover in Oranchak, where two other policemen were holding guns and telling her to get out of the car.
Oranchak then exited the vehicle with her hands up, at which point an officer handcuffed her as she stood on the side door of the vehicle—apparently refuting Oranchak’s claim that she was struck by the hood of the car.
During her arrest, an officer was overheard admitting that he had realized Auranchak was pregnant, and asking if she was okay.
“At the end of the day,” he says, “as I told you before, I am a reasonable man.”
“I see that you are pregnant. If you are not well, you need to tell me because you are in my custody now. Your well-being is part of my responsibility.”
Then Oranchak replied, “I’m fine now.”
Another policeman can also be heard telling the arresting officer, “She kept running away from me,” and when Oranchak asked what the problem was as she was being led into a police car, the arresting officer replied, “The issue is that you ran away.”
However, she claimed she was simply trying to find a safe place to stand.
After the arrest, the police said Fox News DigitalThey find drugs in her car, and traces of fentanyl and methamphetamine in her body.
“A quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine was found in her system,” a spokesperson said.
Ornchak was then charged with criminal possession of controlled substances, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle.
She later became unresponsive at the Broome County Correctional Facility and was taken to the hospital, where she eventually miscarried.

One of the officers handcuffed her behind her back while she was standing on the side door of the car – apparently refuting Oranczak’s claim that she was hit by the hood of the car.
At one point, the arresting officer admitted that she was pregnant and asked if she was alright, to which she replied, “I’m fine now.”
The body camera footage now appears to contradict many of Orancak’s claims.
She and her family said earlier this month that they are considering filing a lawsuit against the department and the New York State Department of Justice for “infringement of her rights.”
“When people look at all the facts and circumstances of what happened here, you’ll be able to conclude that if this car contained white people, it wouldn’t have happened,” her attorney, Ron Benjamin, said at a news conference earlier. This month.
“They wouldn’t have stopped her car.”
He further alleged that the cops “unleashed such violent behavior because she is black”.
And despite recently released camera footage, Benjamin continues to claim that Auranchak was illegally stopped by state troopers.
“There is no doubt that the police arrest and detention was unlawful, and we will vigorously pursue violations of their rights,” he said in a statement to Fox News.
