‘Is this a dream?’ Watch the Ukrainian boy, 6, who is left in disbelief when his father returns from war

A six-year-old Ukrainian boy thought he was dreaming when his father returned from war unexpectedly in the middle of the night.
The emotional moment was captured on film by the boy’s mother Alyona Berezovsky, 27, who wanted to remember the moment her partner Evgen Berezovsky, 33, came home.
In the clip, which was filmed in the Ukrainian city of Zhvyail, Stanislav Berezovsky is seen sleeping soundly before his father enters the room – and wakes up in disbelief.
Father and son embrace for a moment, before the six-year-old returns to bed.
Then, when he wakes up again in the morning, Stanislav thinks it was just a dream.
He tells his mother: “I dreamed that dad had already arrived at 12 o’clock in the afternoon.”
The emotional moment was captured on film by the boy’s mother Alyona Berezovsky, 27, who wanted to remember the moment her partner Evgen Berezovsky, 33, arrived home.
In the clip, which was filmed in the Ukrainian city of Zhvyail, Stanislav Berezovsky is seen sleeping soundly before his father enters the room – with disbelief evident on his face.
Then his mother takes him across the house, and it is revealed that his father has actually returned from the fight.
The family has been left crying with joy – and they hope the scene will be repeated across the country, as the 14-month war with Russia continues.
Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with a number of cities in the east and south now under Russian occupation – and heavy fighting still going on.
‘My son thought his father’s coming at night from the war was only a dream,’ said Mrs. Berezovsky, ‘but it turned out to be reality.
I was expecting my son’s reaction, there was so much joy for him and it was such a relief that my husband and the father of my child came home and back with his family.
The feeling of security and tenderness was overwhelming from my son’s reaction.
Tears and delight were between us at the same time, and we are so grateful to him for protecting our country.
“We hope that the war will end soon and that every child will meet their father who is returning from the war.”

This comes as a new leak of classified documents revealed that the scale of infighting within government agencies in Moscow may be greater than previously understood.
The documents, which are separate from alleged leaks of US intelligence that have been widely reported in recent days, allege that the Russian government disputes the number of casualties its militaries have suffered from the fighting in Ukraine.
The new 27-page installment also reveals how Vladimir Putin was forced to convene a peace summit between two prominent warlords – and the extent to which American spy agencies penetrated the autocrat’s intelligence network and leadership.
It also suggests that the past breach by US intelligence agencies could contain more material than has already been disclosed to the public.
