NNA – Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Thursday condemned “the arbitrary and illegal Israeli measures aimed at restricting Christians from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, next Saturday, to celebrate the Holy Saturday.”
The statement further deemed the Israeli measures “a clear violation of the natural, legal, and human right to freedom of belief and religious practice.”
The statement also warned against the growing dangers resulting from the deliberate Israeli escalation against Palestinians by provoking their religious feelings, calling on the international community to “pressure Israel to respect the legal and historical status of the city of Jerusalem, and its holy places, and to stop restricting freedom of worship there.”
