NNA – “Marada” party leader, Sleiman Frangieh, on Tuesday visited the patriarchal edifice in Bkerke, where he met with Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi.

In the wake of the meeting, Frangieh denied ever having any hostile view against any country, especially Saudi Arabia.

“We only wish good for Arabs and Saudi Arabia, and we censure all sorts of attacks against any Arab country. I’ve visited Paris and answered all the questions of the French, who are also in contact with Saudi Arabia,” Frangieh said.

“It is self-evident that we shall proceed with reforms and support an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, thus we support any government that enjoys its own reform program,” the Marada leader said.

“I’ve heard my name being vetoed by Lebanese media, yet I never heard it from Saudi Arabia or its friends and allies. I am ready to hold dialogue with all sides. We must join the settlement train in the region,” the Marada party chief said.

As for his relationship with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah, Frangieh asserted that it was for the “benefit of the country.”

“The Syrian refugee dossier has been put on the right track, and dealing with it in a proper way will lead to their return to Syria,” Frangieh added, expressing support for “a defensive strategy that falls in Lebanon’s interest and eliminates everyone’s fears and concerns.”
