A vintage steam engine has crashed into a house, leaving a gaping hole in the side of the building.
The crash happened Friday in Great Dunmow, Essex, after the ‘Southern Queen’ steam traction engine, built in 1913, accelerated ‘suddenly’ and crashed into the house.
A witness claimed that the driver was left in a ‘state of shock’ and that the accident had caused ‘significant’ damage to the property.
No one was injured and the house was cordoned off by police and firefighters and people were told to avoid the area.
Another witness claimed the engine was having “problems” and they saw “steam and smoke” coming from the bottom of the vehicle.
