NASCAR’s Xfinity Series Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega on Saturday had to be stopped when driver Blaine Perkins’ car flipped over six times in a horrific crash.
During the second leg of the race, Perkins was hit by Jed Buford and the collision sent Perkins’ car airborne and then barrel-rolling onto the track.
Although he was able to climb out of the wreckage, Perkins was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons.
A wheel also came off Perkins’ car during the crash, bouncing off the hood of the KAZ Gralla as Dexter Stanley rolled hard into an inside wall. Stanley’s run was over, but Grala continued.
The accident caused a pit stop of nearly 12 minutes for NASCAR to perform surface repairs to the track.

Perkins, who was seen in practice on Friday, was able to walk away from the crash on his own
Perkins’ dreaded crash was actually one of the few times the race was red flagged, as Daniel Hemrick’s car ended up on the roof in a single wreck in the first overtime.
In that crash, there were three laps left in regulation when Hemrick – as the leader – led the way to block Sheldon Creed and contact caused a massive crash.
Jeb Burton won his second Xfinity Series race at Talladega, Creed finished second, and Parker Kligerman finished third as Chevrolet swept the podium.
Cole Custer in a Ford was fourth and four other Chevy drivers followed. KAZ Grala in 24th – 11 laps down – was the highest-placed Toyota driver in the standings
Burton won in overtime twice driving for Jordan Anderson Racing, who took their first career victory when Burton crossed the finish line.
