NNA – Iranian Minister of Transport Mehrdad Bazrpash stated that the Iranian Aviation Authority had received an official request from the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority to operate 3 flights per week, outside the scope of Hajj and Umrah flights.

Bazrpash, according to the Iranian “Mehr” agency, referred to the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, saying: “We have received a Saudi request in recent days to organize 3 flights per week from Iran, in addition to Hajj trips.”

“The two countries declared their intention to make efforts to enhance regional and international peace and security, within the framework of implementing economic, trade, investment, technical and scientific cooperation agreements, and on this basis, mutual flights will be organized between the two countries in addition to Hajj trips,” he added.

Bazrpash stressed “the need to strengthen regional diplomacy,” noting that the Aviation Organization affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development “will make all necessary efforts to organize flights between Ghairan and Saudi Arabia, based on its inherent duties.”
