Candice Warner remembers her teenage years with the infamous surf gang, the Bra Boys.
The 38-year-old WAG was friends with the crew, stationed around Maroubra Beach in Sydney, where she grew up in the 1990s.
“It was very rough, but saying that always made me feel very safe and really protected,” she shared The Matty Johns Podcast this week.
“I grew up with most of the Bra Boys. People see them as this gang, but to me they were like brothers.
“I was always surfing with them. I was the ultimate Tom Boy. Hit footy on the beach, just hang out with them,” she added.

Candice continued, “I remember there was a day. I did my workout and we were running circles on the beach and “bang, bang.” You just heard (the shots) and you knew it right away. Someone got shot.
“There was a drive-by shooting and one of our friends was just shot. That’s how it was when I was growing up in Maroubra in the early ’90s.’
Candice does not specify which members of the gang were involved in the shooting.
The Bra Boys started in the early 1990s as a beach band of brothers who got together to surf big waves and protect their home break.

The Bra Boys started out in the early 1990s as a beach band of brothers who got together to surf big waves and protect their homebreak.
But the Bra Boys of Maroubra, in southeastern Sydney, quickly gained a reputation beyond fierce tribalism, including mob violence and other anti-social behaviour.
They include members charged with murder, armed robbery and cocaine smuggling.
Along the way, the Bra Boys have been the subject of a movie, formed a clothing label, and inspired the fictional River Boys in the TV drama series Home And Away.
Two of the founding members of the Bra Boys are the infamous brothers Jai and Koby Abberton.
