A woman has lashed out at her husband after revealing he refused to help pay the hospital bill after the birth of their baby – accusing her of insisting on treating the ‘Princess’ because she ‘gave up’ and had an epidural.
The 32-year-old Reddit user sparked outrage online after detailing her birth experience, explaining that her 35-year-old husband of seven years criticized her for wanting the ‘luxury’ treatment when they had their baby.
In a now-deleted post, the woman asked if she was a “hole” for expecting him to contribute to the hospital tab.
She explained that she planned to go to a “natural, unmedicated birth”, but as the pain progressed, she demanded medication, causing her husband to refuse to help cover the $8,000 bill because she “couldn’t hold it” and “raised the bill with all the medications and an extra night’s stay.”

After being removed from a Reddit thread “Am I an A**-hole?” , a Twitter The user reposted the thread with the caption, “Are you so ready to hate someone?”
In a Reddit thread, the anonymous woman revealed that she had been seeking help from the web as a “last resort” before explaining that she and her husband had always reimbursed 50/50 until welcoming their child.
She wrote: “My husband and I welcomed our first child three months ago. We have been married for seven years and decided it was time to expand our family. Everything was going so well and we were in our little bubble of newborn bliss until the hospital bills came.

The new mom explained that throughout their marriage, they kept their “money separate except for the joint account of bills.”
She revealed, “Throughout my pregnancy, I had planned to go into a normal, unmedicated, minimally invasive birth.”
However, at the 24-hour mark, the mom-of-one explained how things quickly took a turn when she decided she needed an epidural.
I hit the 24-hour mark in labor, then labored and had an epidural, which I was open to taking if needed. My husband had no problem with that, (he even) encouraged it.
But when the time came to pay her husband he quickly changed his tune.
When the $8,000 bill arrived, he handed it to her and insisted that it be paid in full from her personal savings, she claimed.
The unnamed mother asked her husband why they didn’t split the cost.
He said, “You’re the one who couldn’t hold out for a few more hours and raised the bill with all your meds and an extra night’s stay and shouldn’t have to pay for all my extra requests,” she said.
She also said that her husband said that if she wanted luxury, she should expect to pay for it.
“He refuses to budge, calling me Amira because he expected him to pay for all the ‘extras’ I asked for at the hospital,” she said.
The mum added that this was the “biggest problem” they had in the 14 years they were together and she wasn’t sure what to do.

Eventually, the Reddit user “gave in and paid the bill,” but the two haven’t spoken to each other much since then and she now feels “disrespected.”
She ended her post by wondering if she was right.
She wrote: Do I have a right to feel this way or is it just hormones? Do I expect him to contribute to the cost of my birth? Would I be the a**hole to think about leaving him?
Social media users rushed to defend the mother, attacking her husband for his behaviour.
One person wrote, “Yeah sorry she needs to take this kid and go. They would do so much better without this guy.”
‘I hope you get rid of it.’ Another user added that it would never change, just become more arbitrary.

Someone else said: Divorce him. His child support payments would cover her for more than that.
