World footballer Alexia Putellas is back in the squad of Spanish champions FC Barcelona for the first time since her cruciate ligament rupture. The Catalans announced the day before the second leg of the Champions League semifinals against Chelsea on Thursday (6:45 p.m. / DAZN).
The 29-year-old Spaniard suffered the serious knee injury shortly before the European Championships in England last summer. Last year’s finalist in the duel with the Blues has to do without Lucy Bronze, who will be out for a few weeks after an operation on her knee. The World Cup participation of the English European champion in the summer is therefore not at risk.
In the fight for a place in the Champions League final on June 3 in Eindhoven, Barca had won the first leg in London 1-0 the previous week. In the second semi-final duel, German champions VfL Wolfsburg will play Arsenal (first leg 2-2) on Monday (6.45 p.m. / DAZN).
