A woman has responded to trolls who made mean comments about her after she lied about having a boyfriend when a man tried to hit on her at work.
Thomasin is a waitress at a coffee shop where she is approached by Dylan Harris who films himself interviewing random women on the street.
Dylan begins flirting with Thomasin while she is working and asks if she is single to which she replies that she “has a boyfriend”.
She explains that she said this to try to get rid of him, before showing him her Instagram only for him to stop trying to chat to her.
The interaction was filmed and posted online, leading to an onslaught of “disturbing” comments directed at the young woman.

In the original TikTok sectionDylan’s friend dared to flirt with the waitress while they were sitting in the Sydney Café where she worked.
Trolls criticized her for giving Dylan her social media handle instead of rejecting him outright.
Thomasin, who has since revealed that she is attracted to women, decided to make a video defending herself after Dylan’s clip went viral.
She said she should be polite and not reject him outright because she was working at the time.
‘Excuse me beautiful, can I talk to you for a quick second? Are you single?’ Dylan asked who Thomasin said she had a boyfriend of a few months.
Despite her efforts to dissuade him, Dylan immediately asks for Thomasin’s number to go on a “coffee date”, which she awkwardly declines.
“You’re a loyal girl, and I respect that, there aren’t many in Sydney,” Dylan said before asking her name and following her on Instagram.
Thomasin obliged and told Dylan to “not tell anyone” about the exchange.
The clip quickly exploded, garnering over 2.6 million views and a flurry of comments before Dylan’s responses were disrupted.
The exchange was posted online leading to an attack of ‘disturbing’ comments targeting Thomasin for lying about her boyfriend and giving Dylan her details rather than rejecting him.
Thomasin saw the video the day after it was posted on April 14 but didn’t decide to respond until it went viral and saw what viewers were saying about her.
“I wasn’t going to reply to it because who cares but now it’s got 2 million views and the comments are so annoying,” she said on TikTok. video.
Thomasin explained exactly why she lied to Dylan.
“All women know this, the easiest way to get rid of a guy is to tell him you have a boyfriend, even if it’s true or not,” she explained.

Thomasin said Dylan tweaked parts of the interaction and that he was steadier than the video showed.
He cut off parts of the conversation where he remained persistent and wouldn’t leave me alone. She said.
“What I really want to say is just accept rejection the first time.”
Thousands came out in support of Thomasin including popular radio star and podcast presenter Abby Chatfield who said, “HAHAHAHA ICONIC!!!!!!!” What a loser. You kill x’.
One woman added, “Saying you have a boyfriend works because men respect your ‘friend’ and have never met him more than saying ‘no’.”
Another replied, “Yeah, and if you say you’re a lesbian, they’ll be even more adamant and swear they can change it.”
A third wrote: “You don’t have to explain your situation at all, he should have left you alone, it’s so frustrating.”
