Confusion over Bayern’s interest in Eintracht boss

In the search for a possible successor to CEO Oliver Kahn, FC Bayern should put out feelers to Axel Hellmann from Eintracht Frankfurt. However, there are now conflicting reports about the controversial personnel.

“ran” and “Sky” reported unanimously on Wednesday about the German record champion’s interest in Hellmann. According to the TV broadcaster, there have even been talks between FC Bayern and the Frankfurt board spokesman.

In a Munich supervisory board meeting on May 22, Kahn’s replacement and possibly also Hellmann’s commitment could be decided, it said.

Only a few hours later “Bild” contradicted this. Accordingly, Hellmann’s commitment to FC Bayern is “out of the question”.

The 51-year-old lawyer will instead decide between continuing his work at Eintracht Frankfurt and moving to the DFL. After the departure of Donata Hopfen, he is currently an interim leader there together with Managing Director Oliver Leki from SC Freiburg.

A report from “Sport1” also speaks against a move from Hellmann to Munich. One is in Frankfurt “not surprised” by the current speculation. But there is no request from FC Bayern in the Hellmann case and accordingly no offer.

Several Frankfurt media and the “dpa” also reported that Hellmann was not drawn to Säbener Strasse.

The rumors about a dismissal of Oliver Kahn should not take the wind out of the sails. Because of FC Bayern’s sporting problems and the unrest off the pitch, criticism of the former goalkeeper titan has recently increased.

Uli Hoeneß in particular is said to be pushing internally for Kahn’s replacement. The honorary president allegedly wants to use his influence on the board to bring down Kahn.
