SUNOL, Calif. (KGO) — Evacuation orders have been lifted for the 71-acre wildfire burning near Sunol and Pleasanton on Thursday afternoon, CAL FIRE says.

WHAT TO KNOW: Fires currently burning in Sunol, Benicia, Vacaville, Port Costa

The Canyon Fire is burning on the ridge between Fremont and Pleasanton, north of Niles Canyon, according to Fremont fire officials.

There have been no reports of injuries. One structure, possibly an outhouse, was destroyed.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for Kilkare Road residents as well as those in the Golden Eagle Estate community.

Alameda County Sheriffs officials say 450 homes were evacuated.

A big concern for first responders during the height of the fire was that Kilcare Road in Sunol is one way, in and out. Sgt. J.D. Nelson told ABC7 that if the fire reached the road, there would have been no way to evacuate people.
