Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina.

Rep. Nancy Mace’s stock has risen in Trumpworld, with some speculating she could be Trump’s VP choice.
Politico reported that Trumpworld is impressed by her support of the ex-president with his legal battles.
Trump endorsed Mace’s GOP primary opponent last year. But now she might back his 2024 primary campaign.

Last year, former President Donald Trump shunned GOP Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, backing her primary opponent — former state Rep. Katie Arrington — in the hotly-contested Lowcountry congressional race.

After being passed over, Mace quickly popped up in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan, where the congresswoman sought to highlight her past support of the former president, touting her work for his 2016 campaign.

Mace went on to defeat Arrington, which at the time looked like another blow to Trump’s onetime Midas touch in Republican primaries.

But in a recent interview with Politico, Mace has seemingly put the chapter behind her, remarking that she’s open to leaving behind any past political tension and potentially endorse Trump’s 2024 primary campaign.

“We can’t afford four more years of Joe Biden,” Mace told the outlet. “I’m willing to bury the hatchet to save the country, and I know President Trump is too.”

Following the congresswoman’s vocal support of Trump after his indictment on 37 counts of mishandling classified documents, some Trumpworld aides have floated her name as a potential vice presidential running mate next year, according to the report.

The Trumpworld aides noted that Mace could boost Trump among suburban women, a demographic where he faltered in his 2020 reelection campaign.

Throughout Trump’s presidency, Republican candidates endured major losses in suburban areas where they once dominated, a development that has so far torpedoed the party’s ability to retake the Senate after losing control after the dual January 2021 Senate runoff elections in Georgia.

In the Georgia contests, the GOP collapse in the northern suburbs of Atlanta doomed the party and led to the elections of Democratic Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively.

And Republicans are well aware of the groups where they must improve in order to cut into President Biden’s margins in key swing states.

“The fact that Nancy has been a constant and consistent presence in defense of President Trump has not gone unnoticed,” Trump advisor Chris LaCivita told Politico of Mace’s most recent statements.
