NNA – The Archbishop of Zahleh and Furzol of the Melkite Greek Catholic Ibrahim Michael Ibrahim met yesterday (Thursday) with Canadian Foreign Minister Meacute;lanie Joly, as part of his visit to Canada and talks with Canadian officials.

The meeting with the Canadian chief of diplomacy touched on the overall situation in Lebanon.

According to a statement by Ibrahim#39;s press office, the prelate briefed his host on the crises the Lebanese are enduring, stressing the obligation to elect a new president of the republic.

The pair also discussed the challenges relevant to the healthcare, educational and livelihood conditions, in addition to the risks of migration.

Furthermore, Archbishop Ibrahim hailed the solid bilateral relations between the two countries, extolling Canada#39;s role in supporting Lebanon.

He also shed light on the massive presence of displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the toll it has taken on the country, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibility and help Lebanon.

For her part, Joly showed interest in learning more about the crises the Lebanese people is facing amid the sharp economic plight.

She also expressed her wish to visit Lebanon and look closer at the country#39;s affairs and tribulations.
