However, their plan took a turn when the homeowner, Jonathan Gilbert (also known as Taylor Lane), saw what they were doing and approached them.</p> <p>As the trio retreated to their car, Gilbert continued to advance, prompting Maughon to draw a firearm and fire multiple shots and leave Gilbert for dead on the road. Gilbert was unarmed.</p> <p>Thanks to the assistance of a witness who provided information, the sheriff’s office managed to obtain a cellphone number associated with one of the suspects. Collaborating with the Henry County Police, they secured a search warrant, leading to the discovery of the vehicle and the murder weapon.</p> <p>“It appears there was an ongoing lovers’ quarrel, and the suspects decided to go to Gilbert’s residence on Dobbins Mill and vandalize it by egging it,” the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “When Gilbert saw what they were doing to his residence, he came out of the house unarmed, to confront them.”</p> <p>All three suspects were apprehended and now face a multitude of charges.
