NNA – Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held talks with UNIFIL Commander Aroldo Lazaro, whom he met at the Grand Serail on Monday in the presence of Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib.
quot;Discussions touched on the security situation in the south,quot; said Bou Habib following the meeting.
quot;[Lazaro] relayed to us the Israeli side#39;s demand to remove the tent,quot; he revealed. quot;Our response was that we want them to pull back from the north of Ghajar, which is considered a Lebanese territory,quot; he continued, adding that Lebanon has recorded around 18 Israeli violations of the border.
On UN Resolution 1701 and the renewal of the UNIFIL#39;s mandate, Bou Habib said: quot;The UN Secretary General#39;s report will be discussed on July 20, and the UNIFIL term will be renewed during the last week of August. The PM has informed them that I will correspond with the Lebanese delegation in New York.quot;
Premier Mikati also received at the Grand Serail French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo.
Discussions during the meeting reportedly touched on the general situation, the conditions of the institutions, the situation in the South, and the aid provided by France to Lebanon.
Mikati later received the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Abdallah Al Dardari, and UNDP Resident Representative in Lebanon, Melanie Hauenstein.
During the meeting, the development projects funded by the program in Lebanon and the close relationship with the Lebanese government were presented.
Mikati also met with MP Wael Abou Faour, over the current national issues.
The Caretaker PM also met with the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Bassam Badran, with whom he discussed the university#39;s demands and affairs.
