NNA – House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday received at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh, Editors#39; Syndicate Dean Joseph Kosseifi, accompanied by the Syndicate Council members.

Discussions reportedly touched on an array of political topics, most notably the presidential election entitlement, the Taif Agreement, the Banque du Libanrsquo;s governorship, and issues related to the budget of the Editors Syndicate.

In response to a question about the Taif Agreement and the desire of some to overthrow it, Speaker Berri affirmed his absolute rejection of any tampering with this Agreement.

Berri noted, quot;The calls to change the system place Lebanon before uncalculated dangers,rdquo; asking ldquo;have we applied the Taif to call for its change?rdquo;

Berri added, ldquo;Let us implement this [Taif] agreement with all its clauses, especially those related to reforms, notably the administrative decentralization, election law outside the sectarian restriction, and the Senate establishment.rdquo;

On the other hand, Speaker Berri received in Ain El Tineh, UNIFIL Commander Aroldo Lazaro, accompanied by Political Adviser and UNIFIL Deputy Head of Mission, Herve Lecoq.

Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation within the scope of UNIFILrsquo;s work, especially after the Israeli escalation of its attacks on the Lebanese sovereignty in the regions of Ghajar, Shebaa Farms, and the occupied Kfar Shuba hilltops.
