NNA – The British Embassy in Beirut hosted a round-table for women economists and colleagues from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discuss Lebanonrsquo;s 2023 Article IV Consultation report.

IMFrsquo;s Resident Representative in Lebanon, Frederico Lima, gave a summary of the last report which was issued few weeks ago.nbsp; Open and honest discussions followed from the attendees highlighting the immense challenges facing Lebanonrsquo;s economy.nbsp;nbsp;

Addressing the women economists, the British Embassyrsquo;s Political Counsellor, Gavin Tench, said in his opening remarks ldquo;As women economists, you make the discussion richer. Your inclusion is essential to unlock new solutions, share new ideas and drive positive change. Lebanon needs all of its brain power involved to bring change.rdquo;

All conferees recognised the importance of the IMF report in providing a roadmap and underlining the rising cost of inaction. Unanimous recognition that all those involved must work together to forge a path towards economic stability and sustainable growth.

All conferees agreed that reforms are key to get Lebanon back on the right path including re-gaining international trust.nbsp;
