NNA -nbsp;In a virtual ceremony today, the Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East amp; Africa (CAMEA), Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI), American University of Beirut (AUB) signed a General Agreement for Cooperation.
The Agreement was signed by Ms. Amina Khan, Director, CMEA and Dr. Joseph Bahout, Director IFI. Also present on the occasion were H.E. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General Institute of Strategic Studies and H.E. Mr. Salman Athar, Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon.nbsp;
Welcoming the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, DG Amb. Sohail Mahmood stated that it will help establish a long-term institutional relationship between ISSI and IFI and enable the two sides to fruitfully collaborate in producing quality research and fostering policy dialogue on issues of common interest. He also highlighted the cordial relations between Pakistan and Lebanon and stated that the signing of this Agreement would further strengthen the existing bonds of friendship between the two countries by building institutional linkages.
Ambassador Salman Athar, in his remarks congratulated both sides on signing the Agreement and stated that this is the first agreement of its kind signed between the think-tanks of Lebanon and Pakistan. Both ISSI and IFI are among the most prestigious think-tanks of their respective countries and their collaboration will result in high quality research on important global as well as regional issues.
Dr. Joseph Bahout, Director of IFI, highlighted that the signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in establishing cooperation between the two institutes. This collaboration will facilitate joint research initiatives that extend beyond the conventional scope of global politics, with a focus on addressing emerging issues and challenges in present-day international relations.
