‘Spider Web’ Review: Lizzy Caplan in a haunted house thriller that starts out strong but falls apart

After turning heads with the well-received but short-lived Netflix Original horror series. MarianneFrench director Samuel Bodin moves into feature films with the visually compelling if ultimately disappointing chilling, Spiderweb. Written by Chris Thomas Devlin, who tried to rejuvenate the The massacre in Texas franchise in 2022, the script landed on the Black List, among the best unproduced scripts of 2018, as well as its horror counterpart, the Bloody List. That pedigree clearly helped draw a solid cast and team of craftsmen, but after a promising setup, the story’s internal logic becomes muddled.
