Body Found Off Nature Trail Where Md. Mom Vanished, As Boyfriend Speaks Out On Social Media
Following the discovery of Maryland mother of five Rachel Morin’s lifeless body on a hiking trail, her boyfriend spoke out in response to the unfolding homicide investigation, declaring his innocence in any potential wrongdoing.
Richard Tobin, 27, who has a lengthy rap sheet, addressed speculations circulating online about his involvement in the death through a Facebook post on Sunday.
“I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve. Yes I have a past but I also have 15 months clean and have changed as a person. Please,” Tobin wrote.
Tobin’s past record includes arrests for offenses such as malicious destruction of property, criminal second-degree assault, resisting arrest, drug possession, disorderly intoxication, and violating restraining orders, as detailed in Maryland court records.
Tobin is not officially identified as a suspect or facing any charges at this time. Tobin reported her as missing at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday when she failed to return home from a hike along the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland.
Her vehicle was discovered at the entrance of the trail on Williams Street and was subsequently transported to the criminal investigations division for analysis, as confirmed by law enforcement.
The next day, a citizen called 911 to report the discovery of a female body near the trail, believed to be Morin, as revealed by Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler during a press conference.
Gahler stated, “I’m not going to go into what, physically, they observed at the scene. But investigators believe, sadly, that it’s a homicide case.”
Officials awaiting the medical examiner’s report for conclusive details, including the cause of death and formal confirmation of the body’s identity as Morin.
