Grimes said she’s not looking forward to watching Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg fight it out.
The artist, who shares two children with Musk, told Wired that she would prefer he doesn’t fight.
But Musk is “very strong” and the fight is probably a good outlet for his masculinity, she added.
Grimes said her former partner Elon Musk is “very strong” ahead of a potential cage fight with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and that he’s using the match as an outlet for his masculinity.
In an interview with Wired published on Tuesday, Grimes said that she thinks the highly-anticipated fight between the two tech giants will eventually go ahead, but added: “I would prefer that it didn’t happen.”
Grimes, who has two kids with Musk, told Wired: “I love gladiatorial matches, but watching the father of your children in a physical fight is not the most pleasant feeling.
“But it’s not going to cause brain damage, so actually, I think this is good. Dudes need some outlet for trad masculinity.”
The Canadian artist, whose real name is Claire Boucher, also said that she thinks the fight will make the billionaires “respect each other more.”
Both Musk and Zuckerberg recently started getting hyped about the potential cage fight again after a month of radio silence on the particulars of when and where they would face off.
Musk said Sunday that the fight would be streamed live on X — the platform formerly known as Twitter — and that its proceeds would “go to charity for veterans.”
But he might not be ready to fight just yet, he added, because he needs to get an MRI of his neck and back, and might even require surgery.
Musk was responding to Thread’s message from Zuckerberg, who said he was waiting for confirmation to set a date for fight night. Both have been training for the match.

The idea for the fight initially came from Musk who joked in June that he would be “up for a cage match” to settle his 7-year-old beef in the ring with Zuckerberg, who took up mixed martial arts during the coronavirus pandemic.
Zuckerberg responded to Musk’s challenge and has since boasted that he’s ready to take on Musk at any time.
In July, Musk tweeted: “Zuck is cuck. I propose a literal dick-measuring contest.”
Grimes took credit for this tweet, telling Wired that she was the one who gave him the idea.
“I was like, why don’t you cut to the chase and get out a ruler? I didn’t think he was going to tweet it,” she said.
Musk and Grimes made their first public appearance as a couple in May 2018, but said they had separated in September 2021. The former pair still appear to have a strong co-parenting relationship.
Last year, Grimes told Vanity Fair that she and Musk are “very fluid,” adding: “We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time.”
