NNA – The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, said after the meeting of the political council of the party that it is not possible to reach the election of a president of the republic except by agreeing on a person who embodies the understanding between all parties, through dialogue. quot;We are counting on the Lebanese-Lebanese dialogue, and any external assistance is not enough. The presidential program is the basis of understanding, and then comes the characteristics of the president that facilitate reaching a name. The proposed dialogue must be linked to a specific agenda and a specific timetable so it would not be a waste of time, and we, as a party, are communicating with the majority of the parties, if not allquot;, he added. He wondered why wait for September, but rather there should be an understanding on the presidential approach as a whole to agree on the name of the president today and not wait for tomorrow. This provides a unified six-year direction of the country in economic and sovereign files.

Regarding the dialogue with Hezbollah, Bassil said: quot;There was a meeting recently with the coordination team so that we do not remain in the position of presenting one candidate in the face of another without agreeing on a vision. We hope that this dialogue does not stop and the invite remains open and constant. What is being discussed with Hezbollah is not backing up or a concession or a deal, but a political action. We went through a period of intermittent communication with Hezbollah, and after June 14, communication resumed and a framework agreement was established without concessions, but with an approach to work on two axes: an agreement on a name outside the existing alignments to accelerate the process of reaching a president and facilitating consensus in exchange for national demands such as expanded administrative and financial decentralization and the trust fund. And this is not a concession or bargaining, but a national gain. Away from all interpretations and analyzes, the dialogue with Hezbollah is still in its start, and our demand is to pass the expanded administrative and financial decentralization law and the trust fund law before electing a president of the republic, as well as agreeing on the mandate program with guarantees for its implementation.quot;

Bassil clarified that what was talked about is for all the Lebanese and not for FPM, from the expanded administrative and financial decentralization law and the trust fund law, which we request approval in advance to the mandate program, as there is no possibility to elect a president of the republic except through an understanding. Bassil explained the concepts of decentralization and the trust fund by saying: ldquo;Decentralization does not mean federalism, but rather the balanced development of all regions, and the trust fund secures the investment of state facilities and property, not selling them, but rather managing them by the private sector, which increases the statersquo;s revenues, which are allocated for three things: reducing depositorsrsquo; losses, financing the state treasury and improving its budget, and feeding the decentralized fund. This way, bills and taxes collection transparency, justice, and equality will be achieved, and the administration would be free from quotas and political interests and we would witness the development in the regions and in the country as a wholequot;.

Commenting on the laws that the government is seeking to introduce with regard to money management by the Central Bank, especially lending to the government, Bassil considered that this is a lot of hypocrisy, and the only cover that the government can get is the popular one and work within the framework of a caretaker government.nbsp;

Bassil concluded by talking about the party#39;s presidency#39;s on September 10. Candidacy announcement starts on August 10, and Bassil called on every FPMer who sees him or herself able and qualified or if he or she is not satisfied with the performance of the party#39;s leadership, to run, pointing out that the FPM is the only party in Lebanon that goes through a similar democratic experience since the president is voted for by all the partisans rather than a specific group.
