NNA – A mediation delegation including Nigerian clerics has arrived in Niamey to meet members of the military group that seized power in a coup that overthrew elected President Mohamed Bazoum, a source close to the putschists told AFP.
The visit of the mediation delegation, which was received by the recently appointed civilian Prime Minister Ali Al-Amin, comes while the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) continues to prioritize a diplomatic solution to the crisis, after it had given its approval to deploy an intervention force to restore Bazoum to his post.
