The body of a 69-year-old man may have remained in his Gold Coast home for over a year before being discovered by police.

The body of Tomislav Nemes was found inside his Edinburgh Rd home in Benowa on April 17.

Gold Coast Homicide Unit detectives shared photos of Mr Nemes on Tuesday after revealing his body may have been at the home for more than 12 months.

“While forensic examinations are underway to determine the cause of his death, he is being treated as a suspect,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Mr Nemes was originally from the Australian Capital Territory and moved to Queensland in 2018.

It is understood that relatives of Mr Neme have asked the police to carry out a welfare check at the home where officers made the grim discovery.

Anyone who has been in contact with Mr Nemes or has visited his home in recent years is urged to contact the police.
