Hillary Clinton said it was a “terrible time” for America Monday night as another indictment was issued against former President Donald Trump.
Trump’s 2016 rival was appearing on MSNBC alongside Rachel Maddow when news broke that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office had issued another long series of charges against Trump and some of his compatriots for some of their actions regarding the 2020 elections.
Although the former secretary of state seemed visibly giddy upon hearing the news, she went on to say it was only a moment of “deep sadness that we have a former president who has been indicted for so many accusations that went straight to the heart of whether or not our democracy would survive.
‘HWe set out to defraud the United States of America and the citizens of our nation,” she said.
Clinton added that she would “wait to see what the indictments themselves say,” but “I don’t think anyone should be happy.” It is a terrible time for our country to have a former president charged with these terribly important crimes.
“The only satisfaction may be that the system works,” she said.

Donald Trump and 18 others were charged by Georgia officials on Monday
Fani Willis, the Fulton County, Georgia district attorney, announced charges Monday night. The grand jury was investigating efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state where Joe Biden narrowly beat Donald Trump.
Trump is already facing lawsuits in Manhattan on charges of state campaign finance violations in connection with silent money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
He also faces federal charges related to handling classified documents and a separate case related to attempted obstruction of the 2020 election.
On Monday night, her campaign described Willis as “a rabid partisan” and accused her of timing the prosecution to harm her presidential campaign.
In the morning, Trump argued that he had not tampered with the election and would be “happy” to speak to the grand jury that met this week in Fulton County.
“Would someone tell the Fulton County grand jury that I did not tamper with the election,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
