An Australian living in the United States says she is tired of the amount of American flags she has come across in the country.
In a video shared on TikTok, Mia Chloe walks down a suburban street and voices her objection to the over-the-top display of American flags in the proudly patriotic nation.
“I’ll just say it…there are too many American flags,” she said.
“They’re on houses, they’re on cars…I’ve seen them on couch cushions…”

Mia, who goes by @meanderwithmedia, on TikTok, compared the visibility of national flags in the US vs Australia.
“You’re the only country I know that does this,” she remarked.
“The only time I’ve seen an Australian flag was on the (Sydney) Harbor Bridge… (I) couldn’t tell you what it looks like.”
“I know it’s blue and it has stars on it,” she added.
“I think I could draw the American flag from memory… I think I can make one hell of a sculpture out of it.
“That’s the number of times I’ve seen it.”
The weary Australian urged Americans to ‘remove’ the erection of flags everywhere.
“That’s enough,” she said. ‘Let’s stay humble.’

The woman’s TikTok video caught the attention of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who had a direct message for the young Australian.
“Go back to Australia,” he tweeted in response to the video, adding a series of American flag emojis.
It appears the woman’s TikTok account has since been disabled after the backlash.

The video, reposted on Twitter by the influential right-wing account Libs of TikTok, drew many comments.
“I will unfurl another flag,” wrote one American.
‘Merica baby’!’ added another.
However, some agreed with the Aussie’s view.
“As someone born in Houston, I respect that,” one said.
“It’s not just America’s love for the United States – it’s a culture of broad patriotism,” wrote another.
One person said they understood his confusion because flag waving patriotism is not so common Down Under.
“People wearing college teams or high school mascot shirts. Being proud of your town, your organisations, your church, your clubs – does not exist in Australia,’ they tweeted.
