Over the weekend, near a music festival at Golden Gate Park, the lifeless body of a 37-year-old woman from San Francisco was discovered inside a duffel bag, according to authorities.
The grim discovery was made around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, coinciding with the conclusion of the three-day Outside Lands music festival, as reported by KTVU.
Though limited information has been disclosed, law enforcement confirmed to the station that the deceased individual has been identified as Kelly Koike. Authorities have classified her death as suspicious, prompting an investigation by homicide detectives.
The specific cause of death has not been specified by the Medical Examiner. Koike’s mother, Roya Koike, revealed to the newspaper that her daughter had battled several mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and catatonia. She had also experienced a period of homelessness.
As of now, no one has been arrested in connection with Koike’s death.
