Texting is the best option for communication, but many iPhone users are now realizing two secrets hidden in the space bar that help them type faster and more efficiently.
Double tap the space bar to skip adding a period
This trick allows you to type long messages without pausing and finding the dot icon.
And while the shortcut may be self-evident to some, users need to turn on the feature to use it.
Go to Settings, then General, and select Keyboard, where there are six buttons for text messaging options.
The last must be ‘.’ Shortcut: and all you need to do is flip the switch to green.
Turn the spacebar into a mouse
When you make a typo while texting, sometimes it is impossible to tap on the right place to place the typing cursor with your finger.
The cheats transform the button into a mouse that seamlessly moves the cursor through messages, double-tapping instead of always adding a period, and holding space to fix a typo.
Instead of dragging the cursor over the text, you can use the keyboard by swiping left and right on the spacebar as a trackpad for editing.
Hold down the space bar with your finger until you feel a vibration; do not remove your finger.
You can then move the cursor around the entire message.
Schedule text messages in advance
Users can also schedule text messages in advance through the Shortcuts app with the option to forward the message daily, weekly, or monthly.
A daily message can be useful as a greeting to a family member or partner, while a weekly or monthly text message is useful for certain household tasks or groceries.
To schedule your text message, you will first need to click on the ‘Create Personal Automation’ option and select the ‘Time of Day’.
You will then need to click on the ‘Message’ icon and choose whether you want it to be forwarded daily, weekly or monthly.
Users can schedule messages as a single occurrence or daily, weekly, or monthly.
But if you only want to send the message once, you can turn off recurrence after your message has been sent.
After selecting a time slot, you simply need to hit the ‘Send message’ option and then turn off the ‘Ask before running’ feature for the text to be sent automatically.
