A man who allegedly created a game simulating animated child sexual abuse was operating from a house full of toys and figurines popular with teens.
The 31-year-old was arrested by police at his home in Geelong, Victoria on August 2.
Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) say the man created an online game that attracted a large number of users around the world, who paid to access it..
A photo of his home published by AFP showed a pool table filled with masks and figurines from the Halo video game, as well as a Spiderman head.

CACT Commander Paula Hudson said the asset seizure “shows that AFP will not tolerate anyone trying to profit from child abuse by allowing predators to pay for simulated child exploitation”.
It’s the first time a case in Victoria has focused on a gaming platform of such an ‘insidious nature’, officers said, and has raised concerns it could be a new trend in sexual offenses against children.

The man was charged with controlling, producing and possessing child pornography and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He is the first alleged online child sexual predator in Victoria to be stripped of assets believed to have been purchased with crime money.
Victoria’s Joint Child Exploitation Team began their investigation in May when the game was discovered by the Australian Border Force and referred to police.

“For someone to create this type of platform and treat this theme of crime like a game is completely horrifying, especially when that person is basically in our own backyard,” said Victoria Police Commander , Paul O’Halloran.
“Although the material on the platform does not involve living children, it was created to mimic that and we are clearly very concerned about that.”

“We will track down and locate any ill-gotten gains and take them from the offenders.”
Investigations are continuing into those who played the game, while police are working with Australia’s Electronic Safety Commissioner to remove it from the internet.
The 31-year-old has been released on bail and is due to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on December 5.
