David Foster said his wife Katharine McPhee is “reacting” emotionally following the tragic death of their family nanny Yadira Calito in a car crash last month.
“It’s been tough for her,” the famous music producer (73) said about his wife (39) in a joint interview for Entertainment tonight Thursday.
The Grammy-winning producer said “it’s been tough” for McPhee in the wake of Calito’s death, when McPhee prematurely left their musical tour on August 11, citing a “terrible tragedy.”
McPhee thanked her husband for speaking on her behalf about the emotional issue.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Calito was fatally struck by a vehicle on August 9 while at a Toyota dealer service center in Mission Hills, California.

Police said an 84-year-old woman driving a Toyota RAV4 crashed into the building, hitting Calito and several other people inside.
Calito was pronounced dead at the hospital, while two employees of the dealership were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries in the incident, authorities said.
The driver was not injured in the incident, authorities said.
Foster and McPhee have resumed their tour since taking a hiatus following the tragic death of Calito, who was caring for their couple’s two-year-old son, Rennie Foster.
McPhee released a statement at the time saying she left the tour early in the wake of the horrific incident.
“Dear Jakarta fans, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will miss our last two shows of our Asia run,” she said. “David and I have experienced a terrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to return home to our family.
“Please know how sorry I am and how much I want to come back one day and perform for all of you. I love Katharine.’
A source told the newspaper last month that the celebrity couple were “devastated by her passing” and “willing to do whatever they could for their (Calito’s) family during this very difficult time.”
