Recently arrived migrants gather in front of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York on August 14, 2023 in New York.

Last week, Mayor Eric Adams admitted he didn’t see a solution to the problem as he denounced President Joe Biden’s lack of aid during a public meeting.

“Let me tell you something, New Yorker. Never in my life have I had a problem that I couldn’t see an end to. I don’t see an end to this,” he conceded. “This problem is going to destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.

The former top police officer became emotional as he spoke of the almost daily arrival of migrant buses, with more than 10,000 arriving each month. More than 110,000 people are scattered across the subway, and Adams’ office estimated the problem would cost New York City $12 billion over three years.

Authorities fear that without an exit ramp, the situation could soon reach a boiling point as furious protesters have clashed in the streets of the five boroughs while more migrants are left homeless due to limited space.

And ousted New York Governor Andrew Cuomo warned that the migrant issue would hurt Democrats politically.

“It was a federal responsibility, period. First of all. Neither the state nor the city. “Immigration law is a federal responsibility…It’s a function that the federal government has to manage and make sure that every city, every state does its fair share,” he said Thursday during an appearance at the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club in Brooklyn.

He added that the Biden administration should “foot the bill for the cost of migrants and not ask taxpayers in any city to foot the bill.”

“How we get to the point where Governor Abbot of Texas is deciding where hundreds of thousands of migrants move in this country is laughable,” Cuomo asked the crowd.

He told the crowd that Republicans like Trump would use the situation to score political points.

“This is going to hurt us,” Cuomo said. “I’ll tell you what Donald Trump is going to say in four words: ‘I told you so.’

The Democrat also claimed that if he were still governor, he would go to Washington D.C. to demand federal aid and that Biden would “seize it.”

More … than 110,000 asylum seekers have arrived in the city since spring 2022, it costs the city about $10 million a day.
