Ben Affleck reveals he was ‘seriously humbled’ after joining a celebrity Wordle group with megastars Matt Damon and Bradley Cooper: ‘There’s a lot of mockery and derision!’

Ben Affleck revealed he was part of a famous Octordle group, leaving him ‘seriously humiliated’ in a hilarious chat with The Hollywood Reporter recently.

The 51-year-old actor told how he had become quite a fan of the Wordle-like game, in which players have to guess eight-letter words in three times.

The Argo director, who was recently spotted having a tense conversation with his wife Jennifer Lopez, also stated that his friends and opponents had a lot more competition than he initially realized.

Affleck said, “I expected to do pretty well, so I was seriously humbled… It’s fiercely competitive and there’s a lot of mocking and mocking.” So I’m in training.’

The artist also revealed three of his famous competitors, although he quickly changed his mind about revealing more of his opponents to the public.

“Matt (Damon) is one of them. Jason Bateman and Bradley (Cooper), and… actually the first rule of Wordle is don’t talk about Wordle. Unless you can figure it out in three guesses,” he said.

Affleck then revealed that he had to temporarily stop playing the game after contracting the coronavirus.

“I had the low-energy COVID, where it was too much work to pick up the phone to play Octordle,” he recalls.

He then advised his friends not to “be impressed” as the game was “no harder” than Wordle.

Affleck also admitted that he previously felt like he had an advantage with Octordle based on his past interests.

‘I would compulsively do the crossword in the morning and think I was good at word games. And let’s face it, it’s not a high bar to compete against actors,” he said.

The artist went on to talk about his long-standing friendship with Damon, 52, who he has known since childhood.

The pair gained widespread attention after co-writing the 1997 feature film Good Will Hunting, in which they also starred.

During his interview, Affleck revealed the secret to how he has been able to maintain a healthy professional relationship with his production partner.

“The reason it works is because I trust him and love him, and I know this is someone with integrity,” he said.

The artist went on to say that, like Damon, he regretted not being able to work as closely together over the course of their respective careers.

“One of the things we were thinking about when we did The Last Duel that made us want to do this business together was the fact that we wish we had continued to work together more over the years,” he said.
