DailyMail.com has launched a new whatsapp channel today, giving you a curated summary of the latest news right in your app.
WhatsApp channels allow you to privately follow people, organizations, sports teams, artists and opinion leaders from whom you want to receive updates.
Unlike personal chats, you can’t reply to messages sent in Channels.
Who you choose to follow is private and will not be visible to other followers.
Here’s everything you need to know about WhatsApp channels, including how to join the DailyMail.com channel.
DailyMail.com has today launched a new WhatsApp channel bringing you the latest news right in your app. Once you’ve joined the channel, be sure to tap the bell icon at the top of the screen to receive notifications.
WhatsApp channels allow you to privately follow people, organizations, sports teams, artists and opinion leaders from whom you want to receive updates.

If you can’t see WhatsApp channels on your device, try updating WhatsApp through your app store. You will then need to close WhatsApp and then open it again.
Once you have joined the DailyMail.com channel, Be sure to tap the bell icon at the top of the screen to receive notifications. (You can always turn them off later.)
The channels will appear in the Updates tab in the WhatsApp app.
On an iPhone, this can be found next to “Chats”, “Calls” and “Communities” at the bottom of the screen, while on Android, it is in the middle, at the top of the screen.
Unlike personal chats, channels are a “unidirectional transmission tool”so if you receive an update, you won’t be able to respond.
Administrators will send updates to everyone who has chosen to receive them, whether they are text messages, photos, videos, stickers, or surveys.
For privacy reasons, the channel administrator’s phone number and profile photo will not be shared with people who receive updates.
Likewise, following a channel will not reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers.
WhatsApp channel messages will only be stored for 30 days before being deleted.

You can search for the DailyMail.com channel by tapping the Updates tab > pressing + > Search channels and searching for ‘Daily Mail’.

Meta first announced Channels in June, when it initially launched in Singapore and Colombia.
It has already been implemented in more than 150 countries, including the United States.

“We also protect the personal information of both administrators and followers”.
