A tragic incident occurred at Texas A&M University as a freshman was discovered deceased on Sunday in the courtyard of a student dormitory. The student, Britney Romero, who was majoring in health, appeared to have fallen from the third-floor balcony of Dunn Hall, situated on the eastern side of the College Station campus, according to Josh DeLeon, spokesperson for the Texas A&M University Police Department.
The exact time of her passing remains undetermined, and an autopsy has been requested by the Brazos County Justice of the Peace. The Police Department received a report about the incident in the early hours of Sunday. While it is yet uncertain whether fellow students witnessed the event, DeLeon confirmed that officers at the scene have been in contact with residents of the hall.
“Our hearts ache for Britney’s family and friends,” Vice President for Student Affairs Joe Ramirez wrote in a statement. “They have our deepest sympathies and support as they navigate this devastating loss. We encourage our Aggie community to come together to support one another, as we always do at times like this, while also praying for and supporting Britney’s family and all those grieving this tragic loss.”
