Kyle Sandilands donated $20,000 to a rural Victoria hospital so it could buy an incubator for sick newborns.
The soulful radio star, 52, said becoming a father last year to son Otto made him more keen on helping sick babies.
“I had seen news reports about terrible things happening to babies and I thought, ‘This isn’t good.’ But when you see a sick child when you have a child, I started to melt,” he told co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on their radio show on Tuesday.
He said he was driven to donate because even though $20,000 meant nothing to him, it could mean everything to the parents of a sick infant.
“For bush hospitals, incubators are offered by families. I thought there were millions of dollars for hospital equipment, but that’s not true,” he said.

“I was watching someone on SkyNews last night and they were saying that hopefully by the end of the week they would have raised enough money to buy an incubator to keep the little kids alive.
“He said they raised $5,000 and I thought I had $20,000 in my pocket right now. I just texted host Paul Murray and told him to put me down for this,” he added.
An emotional mother then called the show to thank Kyle for his incredible act of kindness, donating to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation for Mildura Hospital.

“Without people like you, babies wouldn’t survive. I had my son early, at 24 weeks, and he was in an incubator for 130 days on breathing tubes. There’s no way my baby would have survived without people like you,” she tearfully told the host.
Kyle previously revealed that welcoming his son Otto in August last year with wife Tegan Kynaston had softened him.
The shock sportsman exclaimed during an interview with Daily Mail Australia in October last year.
“I had seen news reports about terrible things happening to babies and I thought, ‘This isn’t good.’ But when you see a sick child when you have a child, I started to melt,” he told co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson (right)
“I used to watch TV for hours and hours, and now I sit there watching it and it’s really a joy,” he said.
“I sat at home the whole time, which I enjoyed. I’m home now more than with the lockdowns, so we’re loving every second of it. I’m quite happy actually. I can’t imagine being happier.
Kyle admitted he never dreamed of having children, but now he’s “thrilled” he decided to take the plunge and become a dad.
In September he revealed Otto was already a millionaire after his great-grandfather put aside a huge sum of money in a trust fund for him.
