JP Huillet is a proud father of a brand new daughter.
The former My Kitchen Rules star and his wife, Lizzy, had their daughter early last weekend at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Brisbane, and the birth didn’t quite go to plan.
‘She was due on the 18th. So tomorrow she came a bit early,” JP told Daily Mail Australia.
‘On Saturday, around 4pm, Lizzy’s water broke at home and we came to the hospital. Everything was all good and chill – we basically had all the time in the world, they (the nurses) said, “Yes, it will probably happen Sunday or Monday morning,” he said.
“And then probably within a minute the baby’s heart rate dropped. It turned into a kind of quick caesarean section.

“So Lizzy was chased out of the room extremely quickly and quickly. We probably had ten doctors rush into the room right away to help her and get everything sorted out. It was like, go, go, go. Yes, it was intense.’
JP continued, “It was probably the scariest night of my life. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
‘It was meant to be a natural birth. And it was an absolute emergency because the baby’s heart rate dropped.
‘It was actually a bit crazy. Because when we entered the delivery room, the nurse said, “Okay, Lizzy. What’s your delivery plan? What do you want to do?” And she said, “Epidural… Hopefully we can all do that.” And then literally, within two minutes, everything changed.”
He continued, “From the moment they took Lizzie out of the room to the moment the baby was born, it was literally three minutes. So they took her out of the room and as they wheeled her out they undressed her.
‘On Saturday, around 4pm, Lizzy’s water broke at home and we came to the hospital. Everything was all good and relaxed. And the baby’s heart rate probably dropped within a minute. “It turned into kind of a quick C-section,” he said
“I was probably in the room for two or three minutes without anyone telling me anything. And it was just the longest time of my life. I thought, “What the hell is going on?” This is insane,” he said
“That was at 9:07 p.m. And then at 9:10 p.m. the nurse came and said, “Your baby is born, she’s perfect. She’s beautiful. Nice and healthy.” She cried as soon as she came out, which is a good thing,” he added
‘I didn’t even get a chance to put on the scrubs. I wasn’t in the room with her or anything. She just rushed out. I was kind of left in this empty room that was dark. And I thought, “What’s happening?” I didn’t know what was going on.
“I was probably in the room for two or three minutes without anyone telling me anything. And it was just the longest time of my life. I thought, “What the hell is going on?” This is insane.
“That was at 9:07 p.m. And then at 9:10 p.m. the nurse came and said, “Your baby is born, she’s perfect. She’s beautiful. Nice and healthy.” She cried as soon as she came out, and that’s a good thing.’
JP says the couple hopes to have more children in the future.
‘I’m an only child. And Lizzy has brothers and sisters. I know she wants more. And I’m always happy with it. I think she definitely wants a second one.

Nelly and her husband Adriano Zumbo welcomed a son last week.
