Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic will no longer take place at UFC 295.
Late Tuesday evening, UFC CEO Dana White announced that Jones suffered an injury during training that will prevent him from competing on November 11.
“Jon Jones was training last night, got injured, he was wrestling and he tore the tendon that connects your pecs to the bone, to the bone,” White said on Twitter. “[In] eight months, surgery will be required. He is gone.”

With Jones sidelined, Sergei Pavlovich – who was already named as a reserve fighter for the main event of UFC 295 – will now clash with Tom Aspinall to crown a new interim heavyweight champion.
The interim title fight will serve as the co-main event, with Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira will meet the new headliner for the vacant light heavyweight title.
White did not mention any details about Miocic or why he did not finish as one half of the new interim title fight, although the Ohio native often spoke about his desire to return to fight Jones in what could potentially be the final fight. of his career.
It is unknown at this time whether Miocic was given the opportunity or simply opted to wait until Jones was healthy to rebook that fight.
Meanwhile, Pavlovich will attempt to claim UFC gold for the first time after reeling off six consecutive victories, with all of his wins ending in first-round knockouts. In his most recent outings, Pavlovich impressively knocked out both Curtis Blaydes and Tai Tuivasa to propel himself into title contention.
As for Aspinall, he is back after a win over Marcin Tybura in July, which served as his return to action after suffering a torn ACL in his knee early in his own fight against Blaydes in 2022.
