My Kitchen Rules star Matt Preston is also said to be in the running for the BH&G gig.

Whoever lands the role will share cooking tips with viewers in weekly segments produced in locations across Australia and overseas.

Meanwhile, Halmagyi confirmed this week that he would be stepping down to open a new bakery following his debut on the show in 2004.

“After more than two decades of sharing recipes as host of Better Homes and Gardens, I have made the decision to step away from my role on the show,” he said.

“I never intended to work in television, it just happened. Back in 2004, I was asked to do a screen test, and the fact that I’m still here on Better Homes and Gardens 20 years later is both fantastic and bizarre.

“This is the longest job I’ve ever had and it’s time for a new adventure,” he said.

Ed said he felt “honored to have had the chance to tell stories to people who love food.”

“I will definitely miss attending Australian Friday Nights and working alongside my Better Homes and Gardens family,” he added.

Colin Fassnidge has also been approached for Better Homes and Gardens

Another favorite in the running for the hit show is MasterChef star Julie Goodwin.

He explained that he would open a Jewish bakery after dreaming about it for more than 10 years.

Present in the sweet series alongside renowned pastry chef Amaury Guichon, Mélissa has retained her fanbase and continues to win over new support.

A recent episode achieved a metropolitan audience of 451,000 viewers.
