What’s different about the Genesis Mini 2?
Amazon
The Sega Genesis Mini 2 is a miniature replica of the second Genesis model that was released in 1993, while the first Genesis Mini was a replica of the console’s original design from 1988. The Mini 2 will also come with a new version of the six-button gamepad that eventually became the Genesis standard, while the original Genesis Mini came with a three-button controller.
The Genesis Mini 2 will have 60 games, while the original Genesis Mini had 42. Like the earlier model, the new Mini 2 will also incorporate features like save states and widescreen support.

Classics from the first Genesis Mini, like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, are replaced by sequels like Sonic CD and Super Street Fighter II.
While Genesis Mini 2 features more games and doesn’t rehash titles from the first Genesis Mini, gamers who missed out on the original mini console might be disappointed by the new model’s more eclectic catalog.
