Jimmy Barnes has made “good progress” while recovering in the ICU following open heart surgery.
The rock legend, 67, took to Instagram on Thursday night to provide an update on his health, and his wife Jane shared a positive message.
‘Jane is here to tell you about our Jimmy. Good progress today in the ICU. Huge tubes have come out and first visit to the physio,’ she began.
‘Clear your lungs and breathe deeply, we know you’re good at that!
“Our family thanks each and every one (sic) for your well wishes, each one counts so keep them coming.”

The singer was recently taken to the emergency room due to complications from bacterial pneumonia, but it appears he will soon make a full recovery.
Jane posted another series of images on his behalf on Wednesday night after he came out of major surgery.

Jimmy is currently recovering in the ICU after open heart surgery, but on Wednesday he told his followers that he is healthy, happy, and will likely make a full recovery.

Thank you for all the love and support. I will keep you all informed.’

Just hours earlier, the Scottish-born Australian informed his followers that he would undergo open heart surgery after a bacterial infection spread to his heart.
Late last month, Jimmy was forced to cancel his headlining appearance at the Rock the Boat cruise festival in Noumea, New Caledonia, after being hospitalized with bacterial pneumonia.
He was then forced to withdraw from his scheduled performance at By The C in Torquay on 2 December after his condition failed to improve.
Jimmy has a series of sold-out concerts booked for January and February, including multiple shows at the Red Hot Summer Tour festival.
However, Jimmy confirmed on Wednesday that his upcoming shows will likely be canceled after doctors discovered his infection had spread.
The rock legend was recently rushed to the emergency room after the bacterial pneumonia he contracted two weeks ago worsened his condition.
Jimmy wrote in a statement: “Unfortunately, I received some bad news yesterday…despite everyone’s best efforts, the bacterial infection I have been battling for the past fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart.”
‘An otherwise healthy valve that was replaced a few years ago due to a congenital defect is infected, so I will be undergoing open heart surgery in the next few hours to remove this infection and fit a clean valve.
He went on to express his frustration and shock over the diagnosis, writing, “Obviously this will put me out of action for a while.” I know a lot of other people are struggling with even worse things, but it’s still very frustrating. Just a few weeks ago I was in the best shape I’ve been in in decades!
“Anyway, as I hope you can appreciate, this all happened very suddenly, so it will take a few days for everyone to figure out what can be done with my upcoming shows.”
