Crown Princess Mary’s ascension to the Danish throne is an “iconic moment” for Australia and Tasmania in particular, says Tasmania’s Minister for the Arts Madeleine Ogilvie. Tasmania-born Mary Donaldson married Danish Prince Frederik in 2004. “We are all very impressed by this story, as I think Australia is, and everyone internationally is too,” Ms Ogilvie told Sky News Australia. She said the State of Tasmania extends their “great congratulations” to the new King and Queen of Denmark and their four children. “For what is truly an iconic moment for Australia, but also for Tasmania.”
