A mother has hit back at her partner for making mean comments about her baby’s weight, pointing out his receding hairline – and how angry he was.

The woman said that after she gained more than 30 pounds during her pregnancy with her daughter last year, her boyfriend started making jokes about her eating habits and size.

One day after a particularly cutting comment, the new mom hit back, pointing out the 27-year-old dad’s receding hairline, which he is “very self-conscious about.”

She asked if she was wrong for the rude response, which left hundreds divided.

“We had a daughter last year and I gained about 30 pounds. Although I have gained weight, I don’t think I am fat. My legs just got bigger,” the mother explained in a post on Reddit.

She said her partner, the baby’s father, says she “hasn’t stopped eating” since she became pregnant.

“Yesterday I was preparing a snack for our daughter when he said, ‘Why don’t you leave?’ You don’t see that you are big,” she said.

‘He then tried to play it off and said he was only talking about my butt. It really hurt my feelings, so I said, “At least a fat person can lose weight, but your hair will never grow back.”

The woman explained that her partner’s hair has become much thinner in the front and middle, even though he is only 27 years old.

“He’s so self-conscious about it that he won’t leave the house without a hat and will turn around when he realizes he forgot to take it with him,” she said.

“He’s been mad at me since I made that comment, but I felt like if he kept talking about my weight, I could talk about his hairline too.”

The mother added that she goes to the gym but struggles to find the time to exercise.

“Finding time to go to the gym is very different for a dad than it is for a mom,” she said.

“Yes, I know two wrongs don’t make a right, and when I calmed down I realized I should have dealt with it in a better way.”

Many criticized the father for commenting on his mother’s weight, saying he deserved the insult.

“You had a baby and THAT’s when he decides to be mean to you and the body that brought his daughter into the world? That’s all nonsense, I hope you understand,” said one user.

“If he hands it out, he can take it. She never would have said that if he hadn’t constantly disrespected her,” a second agreed.

‘He started it. You finished it. Don’t apologize. His feelings are not more important than yours,” a third added.

Some thought the woman’s comments were ‘out of line’, but others thought the couple were just as guilty as each other.

“Why are you guys so mean to each other?” someone asked.

“You sound like a toxic bunch, I don’t understand why you play that game,” one user replied.

“Neither of you are good for each other. Instead of biting back, have you actually talked to him about how it makes you feel?’ another commented.
