NNA – The Human Environmental Association for Development (HEAD) and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, along with the Arab Network for Environment and Development and the Lebanese Green Party, celebrated the quot;World Wetlands Dayquot; in an educational activity for the students of the Antonine University – Zahle Branch – at the Ammiq Wetland Reserve, under the theme quot;The Interconnected Relationship between Human Well-being and Wetland Healthrdquo;.

In a statement, the association noted that quot;this global day was designated on February 2nd, 1971, after 151 countries agreed to the convention in the city of Ramsar, Iran. This event provides an opportunity to explore wetland areas, introduce the public to the values and benefits of these environments, and recall the specific objectives set 53 years ago within the Ramsar Convention.quot;

According to the statement, the students#39; experience on quot;Wetlands Dayquot; was ldquo;remarkablerdquo;, as they listened to quot;explanations and various presentations by specialists from the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon, shedding light on the importance of wetlands, exploring their diverse types, and the rare bird species that visit Lebanon, especially at the Ammiq Reserve.rdquo;

ldquo;Through these sessions, students discovered how simple actions can contribute to protecting our natural environment,rdquo; a statement by HEAD concluded.nbsp;
