Controversy broke out after Mesa refused to participate in the show’s phone-swapping task, a decision that fueled doubts about his fidelity.
‘We’ve known each other for two weeks, would you give your phone to a stranger? I feel like it’s something personal, you could say, it’s a bit of a diary. “It’s not like she was hiding anything, she wasn’t talking to any other guys,” Sara, 30, told Daily Mail Australia.
“It was more of a pure principle that, you know, the phone is a private thing. I’ve known this guy for a week, I don’t really see the need to do it.”
Sara’s stance on the task was clear: “I didn’t want to risk our relationship by involving the producers in any way. All of these tasks, I know, were meant to make waves. They were meant to stir up shit.
This week, Sara finally addressed the whirlwind of speculation about her loyalty to her TV husband Tim Calwell.
‘It wasn’t really a task to get you to trust the person. It was more to start the drama and at this point,” she added.
‘Tim and I were on good terms and hopeful for our future. So I didn’t really want to take the risk and cause problems in any way.’
When asked if Tim had any basis for his suspicions, Mesa acknowledged his past pain surrounding infidelity: “Yeah, he’s pretty fair, like him. He was proven to have cheated on him several times with his ex, and he says that “He has trust issues.” .’
During their day at the beach, the two blondes enjoyed some cheese Doritos.
The controversy with Ben ignited after Mesa refused to participate in the show’s infamous phone-swapping task, a decision that raised eyebrows and fueled doubts about his fidelity.
‘Tim and I were on good terms and hopeful for our future. So I really didn’t want to take the risk and cause problems in any way,” he explained.
She continued: “I think it’s normal to have those trust issues, but I don’t think his trust issues with me had anything to do with me and more to do with his past; handing him my phone wasn’t going to change whether he trusted me or not.
“I don’t feel like I did anything to intimidate him except speak my mind and stand firm on my expectations and what I wanted and needed in a relationship.”
Mesa offered advice to Tim, suggesting, “I feel like Tim needs to speak his mind a little more.”
‘I think having an opinion, standing up for what’s right. You know, making waves is sometimes a good thing.
It seems like the couple tried to make their relationship work after filming wrapped, but things may have fallen apart since then.
‘He came to Sydney for my birthday, which was fun. And that was it,” she explained.
“I invited a group of friends to Level Six (at the Ivy) for a little private party, and he came and gave a little speech, which was really nice… it was nice.”
