NNA – The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday that it is heading towards a second round of presidential elections after the candidates failed to achieve 50% or more of the votes cast in the first round.

The second round is scheduled to take place next Friday, July 5, between the two candidates, Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili, who topped the race.

The preliminary results of the vote-counting operations in the Iranian presidential elections began to appear successively this morning, as the reformist Pezeshkian took the lead over the conservative Jalili.

The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced the final results of the elections as follows, according tonbsp;quot;Russia Todayquot; news agency:

– Masoud Pezeshkian received 10,415,991 votes

– Saeed Jalili received 9,473,298 votes

– Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf received 3,383,340 votes

– Mostafa Pourmohammadi received 206,397 votes.
